Located in Manama, the Sakhir circuit emerged from the sand after 16 months of work. It is a national project initiated by the ruling royal dynasty whose layout was created by the German architect Hermann Tilke.
With ten turns and four straights, it offers drivers several overtaking possibilities. Small drawback, the sand! He reigns supreme in the region and disrupts the smooth running of the cars.
For the 2010 edition, the organizers are adding a winding section called "Endurance" which extends the circuit by almost a kilometer. This section being of no interest, the original route is reintroduced for the following year.
Following the Covid19 pandemic, the circuit is used in its "oval" version as part of the Sakhir Grand Prix in 2020.
