Located inside the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit, the Bugatti circuit was designed by Charles Deutsch who worked as chief engineer for the French government roads department.
The circuit follows the pit line, to which has been added a tight section behind the pits. This Grand Prix proved unpopular and the drivers didn't really like it. Denny Hulme called it 'Mickey Mouse' because of its shape.
The circuit hosted only one world championship race in 1967. It took place three weeks after the 24 Hours of Le Mans and therefore the fans did not turn out in numbers. Additionally, those present only had fifteen cars to observe.
