Williams FW07
The others models
La fibre de carbone n'en était qu'à ses débuts en F1. Patrick Head fit donc le choix d'une orientation plus conventionnelle avec une monocoque faite en aluminium alvéolé.
De plus, Head avait étudié les principes d'effet de sol de la Lotus 79 avant de les amener bien plus haut. Les jupes de pontons de la FW07 étaient plus efficaces que celles de la 79 quant à la circulation d'air sous le châssis afin de la faire coller à la route.
