Lotus et les jours heureux. C'est avec cette voiture que Ayrton Senna et Renault propulsaient la 98T vers un record de vitesse pour la marque d'ébène: 346.366km/h.
Le plus gros problème de cette voiture fut la boîte de vitesse hybride, à laquelle Lotus avait ajouté un sixième rapport.
Johnny Dumfries, pilote, connut bien du mal avec cette maudite boîte, si bien que lorsqu'il quitta Lotus, l'équipe lui remit avec humour un trophée composé de toutes sortes de parties de boîtes cassées qui avaient été soudées ensemble...
